Outpatient Treatment
Day Treatment
Day treatment is designed as a step down from inpatient treatment in order to assist patients who require stabilization without the intensity of full inpatient hospitalization.
The program provides structured programming between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., allowing patients to return home at night and maintain important family relationships.
An intensive, interdisciplinary approach is used in day treatment, helping to supplement the recovery process when traditional outpatient treatment is not enough or is not available. Psychiatric day treatment provides a transition for recent inpatient clients as they begin to integrate back into their everyday lives.
Intensive Outpatient Program
At Three Rivers Behavioral Health, we are acutely aware that chemical dependency not only destroys potential—it can destroy lives. However, with successful intervention we can help patients find the control, strength and coping skills they need to successfully fight addiction.
Intensive outpatient treatment at Three Rivers offers an accessible, effective treatment option for substance abuse problems when inpatient detoxification or other inpatient hospitalization is not required.
Outpatient treatment offers assistance in beginning or maintaining recovery in weekly and multifamily group sessions as well as a complimentary aftercare program. The program allows patients to remain at home, maintaining regular work and school schedules while engaging in comprehensive substance abuse treatment.
This treatment offers the patient the ability to stay on-the-job while engaged in treatment.
The program provides a multifaceted treatment approach that includes:
- 12-Step philosophy of recovery
- Cognitive behavioral treatment techniques
- Motivational enhancement techniques
- Family education groups
- Multi-family therapy groups
Family members are vital to the treatment process! In education groups, they learn about addiction, enabling and detachment. They find that they are not alone and take support from others who understand their feelings. Within the multi-family sessions, families practice new and effective ways of interacting with their chemically dependent loved ones.
The duration of the program can vary depending on the individual patient. Once accepted into the program, the patient meets with his/her assigned counselor to develop an individualized treatment plan.
Upon successful completion of the treatment plan, participants and families are encouraged to continue in weekly after care groups with a Certified Addiction Counselor for up to one year. There is no additional charge for after care services.

The Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program is tailored to the special needs of chemically dependent persons. Participants are educated about the nature and dynamics of addiction and recovery. They learn to identify relapse triggers as they build individualized relapse prevention plans. With the support of our staff, they begin to repair damage done to their families while in active addiction.
