New Horizons
New Horizons at the Midlands Campus provides general psychiatric and behavioral treatment services for female adolescents ages 12 to 17 ½ with an Axis I or an Axis II psychiatric disorder. We deliver services in a residential setting with awake supervision 24 hours a day.
Our approach to assessment and treatment of adolescents is individualized based on each patient’s needs. Our goal is to move the adolescent toward significant improvement in order to allow placement or a return to a less restrictive environment when discharged. Primary issues may include:
- Depression
- Post-traumatic stress disorder
- Self injurious and suicidal ideations
- Conduct disorders
- Sexual abuse/victimization
- Personality disorders
- Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder

Patients typically have experienced dysfunction within the community, family or school setting as evidenced by:
- Risk of removal from the home
- School suspensions or expulsions
- Disruptive or destructive behaviors
- Aggressive behaviors
- Disregard for family rules or the law and repeated illegal acts
- Behavior that is unpredictable and unmanageable in a less restrictive setting
